T.A.S.K is a community based club and offers soccer at what is called the grassroots level. This is recreational and classic (sometimes called select or competitive) soccer at the district level. Through our affiliation with US Youth Soccer, US Youth Soccer Region 2, Wisconsin Youth Soccer and the East Central Soccer District we are able to off players the opportunity to play at many levels. While T.A.S.K. will remain at the district level, other clubs in the district have teams that play at the state level, regional level or national level. If we think a player possesses the skill and desire to play at these higher levels, we will help them get in touch with other clubs that would match their situation.
The classic program will generally run for 6 – 9 months of the soccer year (August – July)
- Teams try to meet the U.S. Soccer recommendation of 3 practices for every game.
- Teams play a 8 game fall season from August to the end of October
- Practice times are usually shortened due to lack of daylight
- Games are on weekends
- Teams typically take off for November and December.
- Between January and March teams try to practice in a gym (once a week – depending on gym availability)
- Play an 8 game spring season from April – June
- Teams will practice 2 – 3 times per week.
- Usually 1 game per week on a week night
- Play in at least 2 weekend tournaments
Optionally, many classic teams will participate in a winter indoor league at one of the many locations in the fox valley or Green Bay area.
In addition to a greater time commitment, there is also a higher money commitment.
T.A.S.K.’s competitive program is one of the cheapest in the area, and a great bargain for the valuable experience the players get!

What isn’t included:
- Uniforms (about $80)
- Shin guards, cleats, balls, practice clothing
- Indoor league fees (if the team plays)
- Additional tournaments (if the team chooses to do more than 2)
- Travel expenses
- Coach hotel expense for overnight tournaments
Teams may engage in fundraising to help offset the costs, but this will be determined on a team by team basis. Per IRS rules, fundraising must benefit the entire team, not just individual players and must be approved by the board.
You will see improvement in the skills and abilities of your child if they make a classic team.
Classic teams do require a tryout and limit participation. Team sizes are limited to:
U11 – U12 – 12 – 15 players – playing 9 v 9.
U13 – U19 – 18 – 22 players – only 18 may be on a game day roster – playing 11 v 11. Generally TASK will limit the team to 18 players.
What does a higher level really mean?
For those new to soccer or the terms of classic/competitive and recreation, it is sometimes difficult to comprehend what a higher level means. Generally with each step up, the speed of play and skill of the players goes up. Sometimes the jump between different classic leagues is significant. The whole structure (going from least selective to most) is:
- Recreation soccer – everyone makes it, everyone plays, more emphasis on fun and basic skill development
- Soccer District Division 3 – Classic soccer, teams tryout, play is faster and more skillful – usually only offered at U11 age group.
- Soccer District Division 2 – A step above Division 3. The speed of play increases from Division 3
- Soccer District Division 1 – A step above Division 2. The speed of play significantly increases from Division 2 and the level of skill tends to go up a couple notches too. Teams at this level are often trying to qualify to go to the next level….
- State League – Only the top teams from the Soccer District Division 1 are allowed to enter state league. Another significant jump in speed and play ability happens here.
- State Premier League – Only the top teams from State League are allowed to enter.
- National League – Midwest Conference – First Division – Only the top teams from State Premier leagues in WI, MN, SD, ND, IA, IL, MO, KS, IN, and MI qualify to play.
- National League – Midwest Conference – Premier II – The top teams from first division qualify
- National League – Midwest Conference – Premier I – The top of Premier II qualify
- National League – The top Regional Conference teams from Premier I qualify
TASK will generally only offer teams in the Soccer District (East Central) levels of play. Travel is regional (usually no more than 1.5 hours) and competitive for our size town.
